Torineko / Torineko

Durante un viaje a Chiloé, un oriundo me relató la leyenda del torineko, un árbol cuya madera tenía la capacidad de volar. Mientras estaba vivo, las raíces lo mantenían sujeto a la tierra. Una vez talado, para evitar que se fuera flotando, era necesario atarlo con una cuerda al tronco de otro árbol. En un archipiélago de navegantes, su madera era especialmente apreciada, debido a que las embarcaciones fabricadas con torineko solían ser rápidas y ágiles, y parecían no tocar el agua cuando navegaban.

"Torineko" explora el cable a tierra, las amarras emocionales que nos ayudan a mantenernos centrados.

During a trip to Chiloé, a native told me the legend of the torineko, a tree whose wood had the ability to fly. While it was alive, the roots kept it attached to the earth. Once cut, to prevent it from floating away, it was necessary to tie it with a rope to the trunk of another tree. In an archipelago full of sailors, this wood was especially prized, because boats made from torineko were usually fast and agile, and seemed not to touch the water when sailing.
"Torineko" explores the ground wire, the emotional moorings that help us stay centered.
